An accredited American education.
Built around your child.

If you’ve been comparing CBSE, IGCSE , and the IB , West River Academy is a different kind of option — a U.S.-accredited private school with no fixed board syllabus or exams, where your child’s natural learning is valued and can be converted into academic credit.

A model designed around the individual student

American private and homeschool-affiliated education has a long tradition of crediting a student’s actual coursework and life learning — rather than requiring everyone to sit the same national exam.

Credit for real learning

Coursework, projects, and documented life experience can be converted into transcript credit — not only textbook chapters and exam scores.

Internationally portable records

A U.S. transcript and diploma can be apostilled, making it usable for university applications and immigration processes outside the United States.

Room to specialize

Athletes, performers, frequently relocating families, and students managing health or learning differences often find board schooling difficult to sustain as written.

30+ years of turning real learning into credit

Founded in Colorado in 1993, West River Academy has issued transcripts and diplomas to families in more than 50 countries. It’s a good fit for families who genuinely want to direct their child’s education — not a faster or easier version of a board exam track.

No fixed curriculum, textbooks, or board exams — you design the learning, WRA turns it into transcript credit.

Open enrollment, year-round — no entrance test or selection process.

Accredited by NALSAS, which confirms the school meets legal and operating standards.

A Teen Mentorship Program and monthly Q&A support families through the high school years.

How West River Academy compares

An honest, side-by-side look — not a claim of being “better” at what CBSE, IGCSE, or IB are built to do.

WRA does not administer exams or require a set syllabus — this is a structural difference, not a ranking. University acceptance of any diploma varies by institution; families should verify with their target universities before enrolling.

Four steps from enrollment to diploma

Enroll

Open enrollment year-round. No entrance test. We help transfer records from your child’s previous school.

Design the year

You and your child decide what they’ll focus on. There’s no required curriculum or textbook list.

Report and earn credit

At year’s end, you send a summary of what was learned. You can also work with West River Academy advisors to build annual transcripts.

Graduate

After 4 high school years (or transferred credits), present an educational-journey project and receive an accredited diploma.

From West River Academy's own community

American private and homeschool-affiliated education has a long tradition of crediting a student’s actual coursework and life learning — rather than requiring everyone to sit the same national exam.

It is so non-invasive of your family and you can school whatever way you want.

Before you book a call

Is West River Academy a board, like CBSE or IB?

No. It’s a U.S.-accredited private school that issues its own diploma and transcript. It doesn’t set a syllabus or run exams the way CBSE, IGCSE, or IB do.

Is West River Academy a selective school?

No. Enrollment is open to any family, year-round. There’s no entrance exam or admissions committee.

What does NALSAS accreditation mean?

NALSAS verifies that WRA meets legal operating standards through an on-site review. It does not set or grade curriculum the way CBSE, IGCSE, or IB do.

Will the diploma be recognized in India?

Recognition varies by university and program. WRA can provide an apostilled transcript for international use, but families should verify acceptance with their specific target institutions before enrolling.
